Rodgers, a star quarterback formerly with the Green Bay Packers, was playing his debut game with the Jets. Unfortunately, he suffered a significant injury during the game. He was sacked by Leonard Floyd of the Buffalo Bills on the Jets' first offensive possession and had to be helped off the field by medical staff due to what appeared to be a lower leg injury. It was later confirmed that Rodgers had sustained a torn Achilles tendon after just four plays.
Despite the setback of losing Rodgers so early in the game, the New York Jets rallied to secure a win over the Buffalo Bills in overtime. The team's ability to overcome the loss of their new quarterback and still manage to win was noteworthy and added to the reasons why Rodgers' first game with the Jets was trending.
